A novel rare hexa nuclear cadmium(II)-azide cluster, [Cd-6(TPA)(4)(mu(3)-1,1,3-N-3)(4)(mu(2)-1,1-N-3)(6)](ClO4)(2)2H(2)O (1) was isolated and structurally characterized, in which the azide ligands reveal mu-1,1,3- and mu-1,1-N-3 bridging modes.
