We report an efficient catalytic method for the synthesis of mono-deuterated terminal alkynes directly from deuterium oxide, catalysed by a Ru(II) pincer complex in which the reaction proceeds via Ru-acetylide intermediates and amine-amidemetal-ligand cooperation.
