Optimal design and sensitivity analysis of a PV-WT-hydraulic storage system generation in a remote area in Tunisia

Malek Belouda et al.

Summary: This study proposes the replacement of electrochemical storage with a hydraulic energy storage system to address the intermittence issues of photovoltaic systems and wind turbine systems. Through two integrated optimal designs and sensitivity analysis of environmental data changes, the efficiency of the hydraulic storage system is analyzed and applied to a renewable energy system installed in a remote area thermal processes laboratory.

Techno-economic evaluation of an off-grid hybrid PV-wind-diesel-battery system with various scenarios of system?s renewable energy fraction

Atef S. Almashakbeh et al.

Summary: An off-grid hybrid PV-wind-diesel-battery system with 50% renewable energy fraction was found to be the optimal choice in terms of technical performance and cost of electricity generation. Sensitivity analysis revealed that diesel price is the most influential factor affecting the cost of generated electricity. The study also showed that varying the storage capacity of the battery bank has complex effects on system performance and cost.

Techno-economic analysis of an on-grid PV/Wind/Battery hybrid power system used for electrifying building

Hatem Oueslati et al.

Summary: The building sector has the peculiarity in the energy-climate problem of being less of a greenhouse gas emitter compared to other energy-consuming sectors. This article presents a feasibility study conducted as part of cross-border cooperation between Italy and Tunisia, showing that investing in renewable energy is appropriate for the building sector.

Optimal design and evaluation of a hybrid energy system for off-grid remote area

Sabah Abdul-Wahab et al.

Summary: This paper discusses the optimal solution for supplying 27 MW of electricity to consumers in the Dibba area. By collecting data on wind speed and average monthly solar radiation, and assessing the projected seven-year power demand, it is determined that a combination of wind, natural gas, and diesel is the best solution according to HOMER software analyses. This hybrid energy solution would result in electricity produced for USD$ 0.0787/kWh, while minimizing fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, providing a safer power supply, and strengthening Oman's power supply system.
