In order to improve the anti-icing properties of asphalt pavement at cold and wet weather condition, this research prepared a novel material of silicone modified polyurea coating (SMPC) for asphalt pavement, the properties of drying time, contact angle and water absorption of the coating material were analyzed. The freeze adhesive shear strength tests, the low-temperature CT scanning test, skid resistance performance test and freeze-thaw cyclic strength tests were conducted to evaluate the freeze adhesive properties of SMPC. The test results showed that the shear failure surface of AC-13(C) asphalt mixture coated with SMPC was ice bonding surface, and the average ice bonding strength was reduced by 61.2% compared with no coating. The AC-13(C) asphalt mixture coated with SMPC meets the requirements of skid resistance, and the coating after 10 freeze-thaw cycles still shown good anti-icing effect. The result of this research indicated that the SMPC has a great potential for improving the anti-icing property of asphalt pavement. (C) 2019 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
