Green biotechnology for valorisation of residual biomasses in nutraceutic sector: Characterization and extraction of bioactive compounds from grape pomace and evaluation of the protective effects in vitro

Concetta Maria Messina et al.

Summary: This study investigated the nutritional and antioxidant composition of grape pomace obtained from Nero d'Avola grapes. The results showed that the seeds are rich in beneficial polyunsaturated fatty acids and the polyphenols extracted from the skin have strong antioxidant and antiproliferative properties, which were attested in vitro. These findings suggest the potential application of grape pomace in nutraceuticals, contributing to sustainability efforts.
