The problems of the depleting the worldwide fossil fuel and increasing concern on the environmental regulations force the researchers to look forward to a new source of clean source of energy such as biodiesel. Diesel fuel additives such as the organic compounds can be used with the vehicle's fuel to improve the chemical and physical properties of the in-cylinder charged fuel. The investigation was achieved using two main blends of diesel/biodiesel fuels of B20 (blend of 20% biodiesel and 80% commercial diesel#1 fuel by volume) and B50 (50% biodiesel and 50% commercial diesel#1 fuel by volume). Each diesel/biodiesel blends have mixed with three different concentrations of the Acetone as an oxygenated organic compound of AC2, AC4, and AC6, which represent 2%, 4%, 6% acetone by volume, respectively. The results obtained for B20AC2 showed that the Brake Thermal Efficiency (BTE) was enhanced by 12.64% when compared with the commercial diesel#1 fuel. Besides, there are a reduction of 18.09% and 11.22% for the exhaust gas temperature and specific energy consumption, respectively. The Carbon monoxide (CO), Carbon dioxide (CO2), UHC, and Particulate matter emissions were reduced dramatically by 63.38%, 22.69%, 47.76%, and 40.84%, in that orders.
