Synthesis of solid catalyst from natural calcite for biodiesel production: Case study of palm kernel oil in an optimization study using definitive screening design

E. O. Ajala et al.

Summary: A highly-active catalyst for biodiesel production was developed from calcite rock by calcination at different temperatures of 800 degrees C and 900 degrees C. The catalyst showed excellent performance in transesterification of palm kernel oil to biodiesel. Reusability of the catalyst was demonstrated with consistent activity and high-quality biodiesel products.
