Identification of efficient cathode materials represents a huge challenge for development of reversible Mg-ion batteries (MIBs). Herein, we report on the preparation of copper molybdenum sulfide (Cu2MoS4) in a novel microstructure, namely nanotube with the square-cross-section, and its use as a cathode material for Mg-ion battery. The Cu2MoS4 nanotube was prepared via a one-pot hydrothermal method using Cu2O nanocubes as a sacrificial template. The Cu2MoS4 nanotube belongs to the top-tier MIBs cathode materials that shows a remarkable specific capacity of 390.5 mAh g(-1).
