We study the invariance properties (symmetries) and conservation laws of the fractional time version of the nonlinear Schrodinger equation with power law nonlinearity iy(i)(alpha) + y(xx )+ y vertical bar y vertical bar(n) = 0, for 0 < alpha < 1, using some recently developed approaches. We will show that the all important energy conservation due time invariance is lost due to some built in approach that the theory necessitates
