Broadband wide-view Pancharatnam-Berry phase deflector

We demonstrate a high-efficiency achromatic, wide-view Pancharatnam-Berry phase deflector (PBD) based on a three-layer multi-twist structure. A practical method to measure the thickness and twist angle of liquid crystal (LC) polymer films is developed based on Jones matrix of twist-nematic liquid crystals. With the help of this new measurement method, we fabricated a three-layer multi-twist PBD. The imaging performance and the angular response of the achromatic wide-view PBD are also characterized.
