In this work, polypyrrole coated alpha-MnO2 core-shell nanorods (alpha-MnO2@PPy) were constructed via an in-situ self-polymerization process. In aqueous zinc ion battery testing, the alpha-MnO2@PPy exhibits a capacity of 148 mAh/g and remain 85 mAh/g after 100 cycles, showing great improvement upon the bare alpha-MnO(2 )sample. The enhanced performances should be ascribed to the polypyrrole coating, which not only alleviates the Mn2+ dissolution but also improves the conductivity of alpha-MnO2 electrode.
