In this research paper we have prepared extremely sensitive and selective non enzymatic glucose sensor on novel electrode architecture fabricated by copper nanowire -carbon nanotube bilayer (Cu-NW-CNT-BL) on glassy carbon (GC) electrode. The copper nanowire (Cu-NW) has been prepared by ethylenediamine-mediated method and characterized for surface morphology and crystallinity using material characterization techniques. Working electrode GC was modified by forming a bilayer of Cu-NW and CNT using layer-by-layer technique (Cu-NW-CNT-BL). The Cu-NW-CNT-BL electrode was subjected to examination for glucose sensing using various electrochemical techniques like differential pulse voltammetry (DPV), cyclic voltammetry (CV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and chronoamperometry. CuNW-CNT-BL modified elecu ode shows higher activity towards glucose sensing. Excellent performance has been recorded for this electrode compared to pure Cu-NW modified GC electrode. The sensitivity amounted to 1907 mu AmM-1 Cm-2. The biosensor revealed a quick response time of ls, linear range of 10 mu M-2000 mu M, limit of quantification (LOQ) of 1.1 nM, limit of detection (LOD) of 0.33 nM. The present sensor shows that this electrode configuration is the best for the fabrication of non enzymatic glucose biosensor.
