A stable twin-perovskite nanocomposite of Ba-Ce-Fe-Co-O was synthesized by a one-pot Pechini synthesis method. This discovery has opened a new avenue in the development of high-performance cathodes for protonic ceramic fuel cells (PCFCs). The symmetrical cells showed relatively low cathode area-specific resistance compared with existing the state-of-the-art PCFC cathodes. The single cells demonstrated a low polarization resistance of 0.075 Omega cm(2) and a high peak power density of 335 mW cm(2) at 700 degrees C under an Air/H-2 gradient.
