The purpose of this article is to explore a new quench detectionmethod-radio frequency (RF) wavemethod, and evaluate its actual use value. The quench condition of the Bi2223 superconducting coil is simultaneously detected by the terminal voltage and the RF quench detection method. This method shows promise as a future means of quench detection and already allows us to check the state of the coil before powering the magnet, but that further research and development needs be done tomake the method more stable. Comparing the experimental results with the simulation, it is found that the RFmethod can reflect the change of the conductor impedance. Alot of useful information is obtained in the experiment to further improve this method.
