A fiber textured, {-1010} < -1-121 > dominated component, ultrafine-grained Mg-Zn-Zr alloy was extruded at a temperature 350 degrees C with extrusion ratio similar to 30. The influence of the rise in temperature on twinning and texture behavior were investigated at high strain rate compression ranges (2149 s(-1) to 4289 s(-1)) along the extruded direction. The characteristic sigmoidal curves show considerable grains re-orientation due to the signature of {10-12} < 10-11 > extension twinning, that causes very high flow stress of 572 MPa and nearly a strong basal texture was developed. A feasible mathematical analysis was used to find out the rise in temperature. A large increase in temperature similar to 212.9 degrees C in the specimen's body was found that cause the low fraction of twining owing to non-basal slips activity. While a rise in temperature similar to 334 degrees C was found inside the adiabatic shear band and edges of crack which is equal to the temperature required for dynamic recrystallization.
