Fluoroalkanesulfonyl bromides, RFSO2Br, R-F = CF3, CF2CO2Et, CF2CF2OCH3, were used for addition of fluoroalkyl groups to the double bonds of allylcarboranes. These synthetic transformations were smoothly proceeded in good yields using the copper-catalysis approach to afford a variety of bromofluoroalkyl-containing target molecules. Nucleophilic substitution of the bromo substituent in some prepared compounds was shown to lead to further diverse carborane functionalization. (C) 2019 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
