Nanoparticle synthesis using plants is an alternative to conventional physical and chemical methods. In this article, we demonstrate the synthesis of ZnO nanoparticles (NPs) using leaf extract of Plectranthus amboinicus. The prepared ZnO NPs have been characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) and Fourier Transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The biosynthesized ZnO NPs then applied for electrode surface modification. The modified electrode was successfully used for electrochemical determination norfloxacin. The comparison results show that the biosynthesized ZnO NPs had a superior electrochemical performance towards norfloxacin detection compared with that of bare electrode and chemically synthesized ZnO NPs.
