Herein, MoS2/CdSe/TiO2 ternary composites have been successfully synthesized by a simple approach. The SEM and TEM results demonstrate that MoS2/CdSe/TiO2 ternary composites have a porous structure, which can provide more active sites and mass charge transport pathways in a catalytic system. The optical measurement demonstrates that the MoS2 and CdSe coexisted in the porous TiO2 structure, which results in a wider visible light absorption than that of pure TiO2. Most importantly, the photoelectrochemical measurement results demonstrate that such ternary composite catalysts exhibit a higher photocurrent performance than that of a binary composite and pure TiO2, owing to the strong synergistic effects among MoS2, CdSe, and TiO2. These superior results show that MoS2/CdSe/TiO2 ternary composites is a promising choice for photoelectrochemical water splitting.
