Influence of grain size and porosity on X-band properties of Mn-Zr substituted Ni-Co ferrites

Nano-sized Mn-Zr substituted nickel-cobalt spinel ferrites Ni0.1Co0.9(MnZr)(x)Fe2-2xO4(0.05 <= x <= 0.30) are prepared using Pechini's sol gel method. Structural elucidation of prepared ferrites, carrired out using X-ray Diffraction, confirms the purity of spinel phase. Effect of Mn-Zr amount on the structural parameters is studied. Morphological characterization evidences that increase in doping amount leads to increased uniformity of grains. Electromagnetic and absorption properties of prepared ferrites are investigated in X-band (8.2-12.4 GHz). Effects of grain size and porosity on X-band properties are scrutinized thoroughly. Absorption analysis proposes x = 0.25 & 0.30 compositions for practical implementation in Radar stealth and microwave absorption applications. (C) 2019 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
