With the proliferation of electric vehicles and their predicted sales growth in the near future, battery recharging will pose many challenges. In this paper we will introduce a smart power meter suitable to be installed in communal parking areas (both public and private ones). The main idea behind this is the fact that every single parking space will need to be adapted to serve as a charging point, and given the shared ownership nature of these garages, we need a way to measure and manage the power consumed by the vehicle recharge.
