In this work, single-crystalline C-60 nanorods were synthesized by ultrasonic method in the C-60-saturated m-xylene solution. Materials characterizations of as-preapred C-60 nanorods were conducted by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, selected area electron diffraction. Our results demonstrated that the single crystal structure of C-60 nanorods. The C-60 nanorods can be conveniently modified on the glassy carbon electrode. The electrochemical properties of C-60 nanorods towards glucose sensing were investigated by cyclic voltammetry method. The C-60 nanorods demonstrated a good electrochemical responses to glucose in aqueous solution. The linear relationship between glucose concentration and steady-state currents indicated that C-60-based carbon material can be considered a potential candidate for the design of biosensor.
