CaMoO4 (CMO) doped with lanthanide ions (Eu, Tb) with hollow spindle-like morphology were prepared by a low temperature hydrothermal method, assisting with polymer, and its structural, morphology, surface binding information and photoluminescence properties were studied. Fluorescence quenching happened when the electron transferring of CMO phosphors was blocked. Based on this finding, these materials were employed as an inorganic sensor for Fe3+ ions assay. This facile preparation and assay may have potential applications in biomolecules diagnose and metal ions monitoring.
