Although fluorescence probes have certain applications in copper ion detection, sensitivity and accuracy are easily affected because of their instability. To improve this situation, a more stable carbon dots (CDs)/hydroxyapatite (HAP) nanocomposite fluorescence probe is designed. The improvement in structure and properties of the CDs/HAP fluorescence probe compared to the CDs shows that the stability of the fluorescence intensity is enhanced. Compared with pure CDs probe, the novel CDs/HAP fluorescence probe exhibits higher stability and sensitivity due to the in-situ composite of HAP. The fluorescence intensity of the probe has shown the best linear response to the concentration of Cu2+ in the range of 10(-5) to 10(-4)mol center dot L-1 in aqueous solution. These results indicate that the method based on the fluorescence quenching mechanism has enormous potential for the development of highly efficient fluorescence probe towards the detection of heavy metal ions.
