In response to the challenges posed by diabetes, portable glucose sensors with enzyme-free catalytic materials have received great attention in recent years. Herein, a facile strategy for fabricating inexpensive and efficient electrochemical sensors is proposed. Flexible copper clad laminate (FCCL) can be firstly decorated with nano-porous copper (NP Cu) through electrodepositing Cu-Sn alloy and dealloying the Sn element. Then Co-P is further electrodeposited onto the NP Cu/FCCL and the final Co-P/NP Cu/FCCL composite electrode exhibits high catalytic activity for glucose. The great performance of the Co-P/NP Cu/FCCL mainly derives from the enlarged surface area of the NP Cu and the high electrocatalytic activity of Co-P. This electrode exhibits a high sensitivity of 1818 mu A cm(-2) mM(-1), low limit of detection of 378 nM (S/N = 3), fast response time of 4 s, a wide linear dynamic range of 0.5 mu M to 10.0 mM, good anti-interference performance, excellent repeatability and considerable stability for glucose detection. The well-designed structure for catalyzing glucose in high efficiency enable the Co-P/NP Cu/FCCL a potential candidate for future flexible electrochemical sensors.
