This systematic review aimed to determine whether light-intensity exercise is a viable alternative to moderate-intensity exercise for relieving lumbopelvic pain during pregnancy. Light-intensity exercise produced significant changes in both the visual analog scale and the numeric rating scale, whereas moderate-intensity exercise produced significant changes in the visual analog scale but not the numeric rating scale. Light- and moderate-intensity exercise can reduce lumbopelvic pain during pregnancy. Light-intensity exercises may be an option for pregnant women who are unable to perform moderate-intensity exercise. High-quality randomized controlled trials are needed because there is significant heterogeneity among the included studies, and the strength of the results is questionable. (C) 2019 Elsevier Inc.
