Lanthanide coordination polymers constructed from the asymmetrical N-heterocyclic rigid carboxylate: Synthesis, crystal structures, luminescence properties and magnetic properties

Three new series of lanthanide coordination polymers [LnL(2)(H2O)(4)](n)center dot nNO(3) (Ln = Eu (1), Tb (2), Sm (3), Gd (4), Dy (5), Ho (6), Nd (7)), [LnL(2)(H2O)(4)](n)center dot nCl (Ln = Yb (8), Er (9), and [LnL(H2O)(2)(NO3)(2)] (Ln = Sm (10), Nd (11)) assembled through an asymmetrical N-heterocyclic rigid carboxylate ligand (HL) were solvothermally constructed. Compounds 1-7, 8, 9 and 10, 11 display three diverse series of isomorphic 1D chain structures. Furthermore, the thermal stabilities and photoluminescence properties of these compounds were also studied. Based on a view that the emissions of 1-Eu and 2-Tb are composed of the three primary colors and they are isostructural, we prepared a series of doped [EuxTb(1-x)L2(H2O)(4)](n)center dot nNO(3) compounds with different doping molar ratios. And the Eu(III)/Tb(III) molar ratio and the excitation wavelengh (lEu(III)/Tb(III)] = 2:3, 340 nm) were determined to gain the nearly white light emission. Meanwhile, the magnetic properties of 4-Gd, 5-Dy, 6-Ho, 8-Yb, 9-Er were also measured. (C) 2018 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
