Magnesium substituted low crystalline beta-tricalcium phosphates (LC-beta-TCP) is an attractive biomaterials owing to its high initial osteoconductivity and bone regeneration. The present investigation is focused on fabrication of low crystalline beta-TCP (LC-beta-TCP) and evaluating in vitro dissolution toward to the crystallinity of the LC-beta-TCP. It is suggested that the crystallinity of biocompatible ceramics greatly affect into their biocompatibility. The novelty of the work is the preparation of the LC-beta-TCP without any calcium carbonate/phosphate complex, which is commonly in use. LC-beta-TCP was fabricated from MgHPO4 center dot 3H(2)O (MgP) and CaCl2 aqueous solution at 200 degrees C hydrothermal condition. In vitro dissolution evaluations simulated osteoclast condition indicated the release of Mg2+ and Ca2+. It is suggested that LC-beta-TCP fabricated by the given method could be useful material for bone regeneration because it has both low crystallinity and suitable Ca2+ and Mg2+ releasing and most importantly it does not contain any extended protocol.
