To inhibit the shuttle effect of Li-S batteries, many polar materials were applied to absorb the polysulfide due to their superior adsorption properties. Herein, bamboo-like polar Co3O4 nanofiber was prepared by hydrothermal method and used as sulfur host material. The as-prepared Co3O4-S composite electrode displayed excellent cycle stability because of its strong absorption of polysulfide. The Co3O4-S composite electrode exhibited high initial specific capacity of 1110 mAh g(-1) at 0.1C. Even when the current density improved to 1 C, the capacity of Co3O4-S composite electrode still remained 796 mAh g(-1) after 300 cycles. (C) 2018 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
