People who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ) are underserved and face barriers to knowledgeable health care. Most health systems are ill prepared to provide care that addresses the needs of the LGBTQ community. Basic steps to developing an LGBTQ welcoming health care programare presented. It can be adapted to diverse health care models, from obstetrics and gynecology and other primary care services whether public or private and to hospitals and specialty clinics. This LGBTQ inclusive health care model was developed in collaboration with the LGBTQ community, a multidisciplinary team of health care providers, and professionals of Law and Information Technology.
