An unsupported Ni-Mo catalyst was modified by beta-zeolite nanoclusters synthesized by the hydrothermal method. The effect of the nanoclusters on the acidity of unsupported catalyst was studied. Results showed that the Lewis acid and the total acid amount of the unsupported catalyst were improved. Indicating that the beta-zeolite nanoclusters was successfully introduced into the unsupported catalyst. And the catalytic activity results showed that the introduction of beta-zeolite nanoclusters not only led to the higher desulphurization and isomerization activity, but also improved the ratio of direct desulfurization paths (DDS), which is in favor of reducing hydrogen consumption.
