A modified Passerini-type reaction has been developed for the facile synthesis of 2-(2H-chromenyl)-oxazoles, in which 2H-chromene hemiacetals instead of the usually used aldehydes were adopted as the key substrates. Derivation of a 2-(2H-chromenyl)-oxazole to the respective 2H-chromene peptide and 1-(2H-chromenyl)-furan was further accomplished.
