The distinct as well as the synergistic effect of the water oxidation co-catalyst (Co3O4), the proton reduction co-catalyst (Rh/Cr2O3), and the optimum surface properties of Ga(In)N nanowire arrays can significantly enhance the photocatalytic performance (STH approximate to 2.7%) and long-term stability (>580 h) of bias-free overall pure water splitting.
