A novel and efficient procedure for direct difunctionalization of alkenes with I2O5 and P(O)-H compounds has been developed under metal-free conditions. The present methodology produces a series of substituted beta-iodophosphates in moderate to good yields with high regioselectivity and favorable functional group tolerance.
