Lead halide perovskites (LHP) have shown progress in not only photovoltaic materials but also light-emitting materials in recent years. In particular, nano-sized LHP quantum dots (QDs) have attracted much attention as good candidates for display and lighting applications due to their excellent optical properties such as narrow emission, high photoluminescence and color tunability. In this review, we discuss the current approaches to achieve highly efficient LHP-QD-based LEDs. We focus on four categories: (i) synthesis and optical characterization, (ii) purification process, (iii) ligand exchange for surface passivation, and (iv) blue and red LHP-QD LEDs.
