W18O49 nanowire networks with an excellent water treatment ability are obtained by a facile hydrothermal method. The products show superior adsorption for MB (201 mg g(-1)), RhB (120 mg g(-1)) and Pb(II) (192 mg g(-1)) due to their large special surface (223 m(2) g(-1)) and special network nanostructures.
