A BiVO4 photoanode was modified with a multi- functional layered double hydroxide (LDH) nanowall overlayer for PEC water oxidation. The composite photoanode exhibits a tremendous cathodic shift of the onset potential (similar to 540 mV) and more than 2-fold enhancement in the oxidation efficiency and IPCE value.
