Laser induced breakdown at copper-water interface is employed to synthesize Copper Oxide nanoparticles. Pulsed laser irradiation onto a copper target leads to dense copper plasma formation which interacts with surrounding water molecule and forms copper oxide nanoparticles. UV-Vis spectroscopy and TEM imaging were applied to characterize these nanoparticles. Further, the antibacterial properties of these nanoparticles are tested. For this, the nanoparticles are exposed to bacterial stain S. paratyphi and their effect onto the growth and cell viability of S. paratyphi is reported.
