epsilon-Fe3N was synthesized from a complex precursor prepared by combining anhydrous ferric chloride and triethylamine. The saturation magnetization can reach 102.13 emu g(-1) under the optimised conditions with low coercivity and retentivity, showing significant potential in data storage. Further, the catalytic properties of the decomposition of hydrazine were investigated. Moreover, the morphology, crystal evolution and the possible mechanism were also investigated carefully.
