Hydrothermal synthesis, structures and thermal stability of two novel lanthanide complexes: [Er-4(tp)(6)(H2O)(6)], [Lu(tp)(1.5)(H2O)(3)]

Two novel lanthanide complexes with the formula [Er-4(tp)(6)(H2O)(6)] (1) and [Lu(tp)(1.5)(H2O)(3)] (2) (tp = terephthalate) were synthesized by treating Er(NO3)(3), Lu(NO3)(3) with terephthalic acid under hydrothermal conditions, respectively. The structures were determined by X-ray crystallography. The crystal 1 is of orthorhombic, space group Pbca(61) with a = 9.6656(2) angstrom, b = 26.2338(5) angstrom, c = 37.9022(7) angstrom, C48H36Er4O30, M = 1761.81, Z = 8, V = 9610.69(32) angstrom(3), F(000) = 6688, R-1 = 0.0326 and omega R = 0.0650. The crystal of 2 is of triclinic, space group P (1) over bar with a = 7.8204(1) angstrom, b = 9.5355(1) angstrom, c 10.6348(1) angstrom, alpha = 68.869(1)degrees, beta = 71.081(1)degrees, gamma = 75.151(1)degrees, C24H24Lu2O18, M = 475.19, Z = 2, V = 690.98(1) angstrom(3), F(000) = 454, R-1 = 0.0215 and omega R = 0.0474. Both of the two coordination polymers exhibit sandwich-like packing structures.
