A new Anderson-type heteropolyanion-supported transition metal complex: [Himi](2)[Ni(imi)(3)(H2O){Ni(OH)(6)Mo6O18}]center dot 2H(2)O

A new Anderson-type heteropolyanion-supported nickel imidazole complex, [HiMi](2)[Ni(imi)(3)(H2O){Ni(OH)(6)Mo6O18}](2)H2O (imi = imidazole) (1) has been prepared by conventional aqueous solution synthesis and structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction as well as by infrared spectroscopy, elemental and thermogravimetric analysis. Compound 1 possesses a one-dimensional (1D) wave-like infinite chain structure composedof Anderson-type heteropolyanion [Ni(OH)(6)Mo6O18](4-) covalently linked by [Ni(imi)(3)(H2O)](2+) unit. Furthermore, the chains are extended into a 2D supramolecular framework in the ac plane via hydrogen-bonding interactions.
