Study of intermolecular interactions in binary mixtures of 2-(dimethylamino)ethanol with methanol and ethanol at various temperatures

The densities, rho and ultrasonic speeds, u of the binary mixtures of 2-(dimethylamino)ethanol (DMAE) with methanol/ethanol, including those of pure liquids, over the entire composition range were measured at 298.15, 308.15 and 318.15 K. From the experimental data, the excess molar volumes, V-m(E) and excess isentropic compressibilities, K-s(E) have been calculated. The excess partial molar volumes, (V) over bar (E)(m,1) and (V) over bar (E)(m,2) and excess partial molar isentropic compressions, (K) over bar (E)(s,m,1) and (K) over bar (E)(s,m,2) over the whole composition range; and partial molar volumes, (V degrees) over bar (m,1) and (V degrees) over bar (m,2), partial molar isentropic compressions, (K degrees) over bar (s,m,1) and (K degrees) over bar (s,m,2), excess partial molar volumes, (V degrees) over bar (E)(m,1) and (V degrees) over bar (E)(m,2), and excess partial molar isentropic compressions, (K degrees) over bar (E)(s,m,1) and (K degrees) over bar (E)(s,m,2) at infinite dilution have also been calculated. The variations of these parameters with composition and temperature are discussed in terms of intermolecular interactions. The IR spectra of these mixtures have also been recorded at 298.15 K.
