Endogenous sources of dioxin emissions in areas of tectonomagmatic activation using the example of the Sakhalin-Kuril region

Data on the dioxin contents in landscapes of modern active volcanoes, buried volcanic ashes, and fresh ejecta of mud volcanoes are obtained. It is shown that endogenous sources of natural (nontechnogenic) dioxins exist in the areas of tectonomagmatic activation. It is suggested that extremely toxic chemical compounds (dioxins) were continuously supplied to the biosphere during the geological time. The environmental importance of this phenomenon for the biota is still difficult to estimate.
