Continuing medical education on external postmortem examination of corpses. Recommendations of the Working Group on External Postmortem Examination of the German Society of Legal Medicine

The members of the Working Group on External Postmortem Examination of the German Society of Legal Medicine have developed a new educational program (curriculum) for physicians to improve the quality of the external postmortem examination of corpses. This curriculum is based on knowledge which is imparted during medical studies in the discipline legal medicine and aims to improve the theoretical knowledge of physicians. Furthermore, participants should have the possibility to acquire practical experiences under the supervision of experienced specialists. By means of this curriculum the quality of external postmortem examinations in Germany could be improved and the position of physicians performing these investigations could be strengthened.
