The influence of the composition and calcination temperature on nickel-lanthanum-alumina catalysts was specifically studied for the catalytic carbon dioxide dry reforming of methane (CDR) in this paper. The addition of lanthanum promoter to Ni-Al resulted in high activity and stability for the CDR process. The calcined catalyst showed a maximum activity at the temperature of 873 K. The catalysts prepared by the co-precipitation method had higher activity than those prepared by the impregnation method. The characterization was performed by using BET, ICP-AES, XRD, IR, EPMA and XPS.
