Sub-barrier capture reactions following neutron-pair transfer are proposed to be used for the indirect study of the neutron-neutron correlation in the surface region of a nucleus. The strong effect of dineutron-like cluster transfer stemming from the surface of magic and nonmagic nuclei O-18, Ca-48, Ni-64, Mo-94,Mo-96, Ru-100,Ru-102,Ru-104, Pd-104,Pd-106,Pd-108, and Sn-112,Sn-114,Sn-116,Sn-118,Sn-120,Sn-124,Sn-132 is demonstrated. The dominance of the two-neutron transfer channel in the vicinity of the Coulomb barrier is further supported by time-dependent mean-field approaches.
