A single crystal of a novel phase Ce2IrSi3 was studied by means of x-ray diffraction, magnetization, heat capacity, and resistivity measurements, performed in the temperature range 0.4-300 K and in magnetic fields up to 9 T. The compound was found to crystallize with a fully ordered derivative of the AlB2-type structure. The experimental results revealed that Ce2IrSi3 is an antiferromagnetic Kondo lattice that orders below T-N = 1.3 K.
