The efficiency ofPseudomonas aeruginosastrain (1640) and an indigenous strain that previously isolated from a petroleum contaminated soil designated as PTCC1074 was compared for the biodegradation of PAH in soil. The effect of selected bacterial additions on the bioremediation of South part of Caroon soil was evaluated in laboratory scale experiments. Results of 15days' incubation time revealed that 72% (1074) and 36% (1640) of PAH degradation occurred by two strain of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Interestingly, in the first 72h, 27% of PAH was degraded by PTCC1074. This is to prove that the indigenous culture reacts well with its natural environment.
