Synthesis of α-Carbolines via Pd-Catalyzed Amidation and Vilsmeir-Haack Reaction of 3-Acetyl-2-chloroindoles

A new class of a-carboline derivatives has been synthesized by Pd-2(dba)(3)/BINAP catalyzed amidatIon of 3-acetyl-2-chloroindoles followed by a Vilsmeier-Haack reaction and is reported.
