Instantaneous Deprotection of Tosylamides and Esters with SmI2/Amine/Water

Sml(2)amine/water mediates instantaneous cleavage of tosyl amides and tosyl esters. Highly hindered, sensitive and functionalized substrates were successfully deprotected in near quantitative yield.
