A general review on the derivation of Clausius-Mossotti relation

This manuscript offers a general review on the derivation of Clausius-Mossotti relation. Clausius-Mossotti relation seems to hold best for gases and gives reasonably good results for many liquids and solids. In physics, this relation connects the relative permittivity of a dielectric to the polarizability alpha of the atoms or molecules constituting the dielectric. (C) 2012 Elsevier GmbH.
